What's changed, and what's next

A running log across all three apps. Newest first. Nothing gets announced here before it actually exists.

This site went up

Minato Studio now has somewhere to point people. It explains what the three apps are for and, just as importantly, what they deliberately don't do.

It's a plain static site: no tracking, no cookies, no analytics, and no external requests at all. Even the fonts are served from the same place as the page.

Where TabiLog stands today

TabiLog is finished in the sense that matters: it's in real use, and the things that used to be annoying about it aren't any more. The current feature set covers:

  • Multiple budgets per person, each in its own currency and artwork, with optional monthly limits.
  • A shopping list that shares the app with your budgets. Add an item with an estimate, tick it off, and turn it into a real expense in one tap.
  • A trip date range on the dashboard, so the numbers are scoped to the trip rather than the calendar month.
  • The pending-receipts inbox: photograph now, file later.
  • Splitting a single receipt across several wallets, with linked transactions on each side.
  • Quick Add from any screen, remembering your last wallet and category.
  • PDF, Excel and CSV export, per person or for everyone.
  • Light and dark themes, plus per-currency artwork for all 16 supported currencies.
  • Spending-per-month history per budget, plotted against its limit.

From here it gets fixes and small refinements rather than new surface area.

Pricing settled: free for three travellers

TabiPace covers up to three travellers free. Past that, which is most multigenerational trips, a one-off unlock covers unlimited travellers. No subscription, and nothing expires mid-trip.

Building toward a hard September deadline

TabiPlanner has to be usable by 1 September 2026, because it's being built for a trip that departs on the 22nd. After the 1st it goes into real use and only gets fixes for things that actually hurt.

The phone layout, a month grid showing the whole trip at a glance with detail on tap, is the part everything else hangs off, so it's the part getting the attention.

v0.1 is feature-complete and signed

The first release of TabiPace has been verified on a real Android device and built as a signed release. Core pacing, onboarding, PDF export and the legal pages are all done.

What's left is the Google Play listing, which is paperwork rather than code. Nothing is uploaded yet. When it is, it'll be said here first.

Why this app, out of five candidates

TabiPace was picked from a sweep of five possible ideas, as the one with the clearest gap and the lowest risk. The research found no travel apps at all doing pacing and care logistics for multigenerational trips, against a strong demand signal: a large majority of families now plan trips spanning three generations.

Elderly-care apps all target care at home. Group-trip apps target itineraries and splitting bills. Nobody was asking whether the day itself was survivable.
